Banbridge Hockey Club are delighted to confirm that they will host the EY Champions Trophy finals weekend on the weekend of the 4-5 May 2019.
Jo-Anne Lyttle, President of Banbridge Hockey Club stated; “We are delighted to have been selected by Hockey Ireland to again host the finals weekend for the Irish Hockey EY Champions Trophy. This event will be a great boost for the club and also for the Borough of Armagh, Banbridge and Craigavon. This will be the first major event to be held at the club since we put down our new pitch. We have top class grounds and facilities at Banbridge Hockey Club and we look forward to hosting the finals here and welcoming players and supporters from all over the island to our club.”
At this finals weekend, the EY Irish Hockey League top three finishers will be joined by the Irish Senior Cup winner to battle to be the Number One in Ireland and secure the top representative spot in Europe next season.
Jo-Anne added; “Those competing in the EY Irish Hockey Champions Trophy finals will be the top teams from across the island of Ireland and it will be great to have such talent on display here in Banbridge. We have previously hosted the finals weekend as well as Round 1 of the EHL so have significant experience in running these big events. Both competitions were a tremendous success for the club and the local area and we plan to do the same again. The club will now be working hard to ensure that we deliver a great tournament that weekend and obviously, it would be even more rewarding for the club and district if our Men’s 1st XI were competing! ”
