CONGRATULATIONS TO THE MEN’S 1ST XI ON WINNING ISC
Banbridge Hockey Club President Roger Martin has congratulated the Men’s 1st XI on becoming Irish Senior Cup champions once again. Banbridge beat the holders Monkstown 3-1 in Dublin with goals from Johnny McKee and a brace from Eugene Magee to bring the cup back to Banbridge for the second time in three years.
Congratulating the team Roger said; “Congratulations to the Men’s 1st XI on this great achievement. The club are absolutely delighted with this win today and, to be bringing the Irish Senior Cup back to Havelock for the second time in three years is fantastic.”
“I would like to pay tribute to Head Coach Mark Tumilty, the coaching and management team and of course to the whole squad for all their hard work. They have had a tremendous season to date and this result is very much deserved. Thanks also to our team sponsors Swallow Groupage and all our supporters who travelled to Dublin to get behind the team. The club will be celebrating tonight.”
The celebrations will be short-lived though as there are a number of big games in the next couple of weeks. The Men’s 1st XI will be immediately refocusing on the EY Hockey League playing local rivals Lisnagarvey on Wednesday evening at Havelock at 8pm, followed by a double header weekend with UCD on Saturday and Glenanne on Sunday both at Havelock. The following week the boys will be off to Eindhoven for the EHL KO16
