CONGRATULATIONS & THANK YOU
Huge crowds descended on Havelock Park over the weekend to watch hockey at its best as Banbridge Hockey Club hosted Round 1 of the Euro Hockey League. This was bolstered by two fantastic performances by the Men’s 1st XI resulting in qualification for the KO16 stages of the EHL in April next year.
BHC Club President Roger Martin stated: “I am so proud of what we achieved as a club both on and off the pitch over the EHL weekend. Huge congratulations to our Men’s 1st XI who have qualified for the KO16 stage of the EHL for the first time after two brilliant performances against top quality sides at the weekend. We are all delighted for them and all their hard work has paid off and they have been justly rewarded with a place in the next round.”
“I would also like to take this opportunity to sincerely thank everyone involved in the weekend, we simply could not have hosted such a top class event without their help. We were overwhelmed by the volunteer response from all levels within the club and beyond and it is a testament to everyone’s willingness to help that made this weekend a resounding success. Thanks also to Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon Borough Council and the EHL team for their support in helping us make this happen and it was great to welcome the Lord Mayor, the Minister for Communities and many other dignitaries to Havelock.”
“Anyone who visited Havelock Park over the weekend saw the transformation of our grounds from club venue to that of a quality sports complex. So many people worked so hard in organising this and making our vision a reality. The support we received from local businesses, sponsors, schools other sports clubs and hockey clubs, politicians, Ulster Hockey, Hockey Ireland, Sports NI and particularly from our own members has been phenomenal and we really appreciate it all. ”
“Fantastic hockey was on display at our grounds over the weekend, alongside a great atmosphere at Havelock which made it a brilliant tournament for the thousands of spectators who turned up over the three days and this was topped off by our Men’s 1sts qualifying for the next stage. We just could not have asked for anything better. Again thank you to everyone who helped make this all happen and thank you to everyone who has sent messages of support and congratulations. The past weekend will last long in the memories of all those who were present and involved.”
