BANN ARE ‘CLUB OF THE YEAR’
Banbridge Hockey Club lifted another trophy last night when they were crowned ‘Ulster Hockey Club of the Year’ at the prestigious Ulster Hockey Award Ceremony held at the Ramada Hotel in Belfast.
The coveted award recognises the superb season had by Bann Men’s 1st XI who won the domestic treble; Kirk Cup, Anderson Cup and the Keightley League Cup, the Irish Senior Cup and were runners up in the Irish Hockey League. There was also success elsewhere for the club as the Under 11 boys finished runners up in the Plate and Under 15 boys won their section cup. In addition the Men’s 2nd XI finished second in Junior League 1, the Ladies 3rd XI secured promotion in their league and the Ladies 4th XI were runners up in the Minor Plate.
Stephen Dowds was awarded the Ulster Hockey Men’s ‘Top Goalscorer of the Year’ award with 59 goals scored over the 2014-15 season. Stephen was unable to collect his award and he is currently on international duty with Ireland in a series against France.
