President congratulates Men’s 1st XI on Kirk Cup win

Banbridge Hockey Club President Sheree Totton has congratulated the Men’s 1st XI on winning the GOC Estate Agents Kirk Cup in difficult conditions on Boxing Day.

Club President Sheree Totton said; “Congratulations to our Men’s 1st XI on winning the Kirk Cup on Boxing Day after defeating Cookstown 3-1. We are delighted to see the men’s 1sts collecting a second piece of silverware this season following the Anderson Cup win in the summer and hope there is still more to come. Thanks to our Men’s 1sts sponsors Swallow Groupage, and to the supporters who braved the elements on Boxing Day to see Bann lifting the Kirk Cup once again. “

This is the 20th time Bann have picked up the Kirk Cup and they did so in style on Boxing Day. Fraser Mills opened the scoring in the 15th minute and Stephen Dowds added two more early in the second half to seal the win for Banbridge with a late consolation goal from Cookstown.

The focus returns to the GOC Estate Agents Premier League competition this Saturday when the Men’s 1st XI will play Civil Service away at Stormont at 2.30pm. There are no fixtures for the Men’s 2nds, 3rds and 4ths while all the ladies teams are all back in action.
