NEW HEAD COACH FOR BANN LADIES
Banbridge Hockey Club have appointed former Irish international Robin Madeley as Head Coach of the Ladies section. Robin will take up his role when the ladies return to pre-season training on Monday 7th July at Havelock Park.
Commenting on the appointment BHC Head of Senior Hockey, Douglas Anderson stated; “We are delighted that Robin has taken up the post as our Ladies 1st XI coach. Robin has an excellent track record as a coach. He has been working as our ladies 2nd XI coach for the past three seasons and led them to promotion in the league in each of these seasons which is a tremendous achievement.”
Robin Madeley is a former Irish international and played top level hockey for Dublin side Three Rock Rovers as well as Banbridge. He has also considerable experience as a hockey coach of both men’s and ladies sides. Robin takes over from Simon Jess who saw some great successes under his charge including two league titles and the Intermediate Cup and the club has thanked Simon for all his work over the past number of years.
Newly appointed Head Coach Robin Madeley stated: “I am looking forward to taking on this role, working with the ladies 1st XI at Banbridge and building on what has been achieved in recent years. The Ladies section of the club had an excellent 2013/14 season with the 1st XI finishing mid table in senior 1, the 2nd XI and 3rd XI both securing promotion in their respective leagues and the 4th XI just missing out on promotion. We plan to further this success as we go forward into the new season. All senior players should attend pre-season training and new members of all abilities will also be very welcome.”
BHC Ladies 1st XI will play this season in Senior 1, the 2nd XI in Junior 1, 3rd XI in Junior 6 and the 4th XI in Junior 9.
Robin added: “The Ladies aim to again field four senior teams this year and are looking forward to seeing last seasons’ under-15s who also had considerable success, progress into the senior club. All girls aged 15 and over should come along to Havelock on Mondays for pre-season training. A number of pre-season friendlies will be organised over the summer months and it is important that all our players attend training sessions to ensure the best possible preparation for the season ahead.”
Pre-season training will start on Monday 7th July at 6.45 pm at Havelock Park and continue on Monday nights. From August training will move to Monday and Wednesdays at Havelock with Saturday sessions also to be scheduled. Junior sessions will start in September.
