OVER 300 JUNIOR MEMBERS!
Thirty nine new members have joined the junior section at Banbridge Hockey Club this season taking the total junior membership to over 300 to date. BHC boys and girls train separately in Primary School, under 13 and 15 groups with matches and tournaments organised throughout the season.
BHC Junior Co-Ordinator Julie Sally stated: “We are delighted that almost 40 new members have joined the junior section this season further strengthening our junior club. We are at capacity in the girls section however we are still have some places available in the boys training sessions. This season we again have over 300 boys and girls training with the club which is a fantastic position to be in and bodes well for the future of the club. ”
Two of Banbridge Hockey Club’s current Irish international players, Eugene Magee and Bruce McCandless along with former Bann player and Irish international Peter Brown recently attended a junior session to show them a few skills and help with training.
Julie added; “Banbridge Hockey Club provides excellent coaching and facilities for boys and girls playing hockey from primary 1 upwards. We are fortunate that we also have several international players at the club who can help inspire our juniors as to what is possible with hard work and training. We do still need additional coaches so if there is anyone who is available to help please get in touch.”
“Banbridge Hockey Club has also achieved Clubmark NI accreditation. This means that BHC Junior Club will meet minimum standards in the areas of effective management, quality Coaching and competition safety in sport. We hope that with these structures in place we will ensure that Banbridge juniors will continue to feed in top class players to the senior club. ”
