Pre-season training starts soon
Following last seasons success, Banbridge Hockey Club are looking forward to the 2013/14 season with confidence. To prepare for the season ahead, the Ladies will start pre-season training on Monday 5th August 2013 at 7.00 pm at Havelock Park, the Men’s 1st XI on Saturday 10th August at 9.30am while the Men’s 2nd – 4th XI will start back on Tuesday 20th August 2013 at 6.30pm.
Senior Hockey Co-Ordinator Douglas Anderson stated: “The Club had an excellent 2012/13 season with our Men’s and Ladies 1st XI teams and Men’s 2nd XI topping their league tables and the Ladies 2nd XI and Men’s 4th XI securing the runner up spot and promotion in their respective league competitions. We plan to further this success as we go forward into the new season. All senior players are encouraged to attend pre-season training and new members of all abilities will also be very welcome.”
BHC Ladies 1st XI return to top flight hockey in Ulster this season as they play in Senior 1, the 2nd XI are promoted to Junior 2, the 3rd XI in Junior 7 and 4th XI in Junior 9B. Head Coach Simon Jess will again be assisted by Robin Madeley and Dane Ward with Aaron Appleton working with the goalkeepers
The Men’s 1st XI coached by Mark Tumilty will be aiming to repeat their unbeaten run in the Ulster Premier League this season and further their success in the Irish Senior Cup and IHL competitions. The Men’s 2nd XI play in Junior 1 with both the Men’s 3rd and 4th XI playing in Junior 2.
Douglas added: “Once again we aim to field four senior teams this year in both the Men’s and Ladies sections and are looking forward to seeing last seasons’ under-15s boys and girls, who also had considerable success, progress into the senior club. A number of pre-season friendlies will be organised over the coming weeks and it is important that all our players attend the relevant training sessions to ensure the best possible preparation for the season ahead.”
Junior Hockey will start in September, dates will be confirmed soon.
