BIG WEEKEND AHEAD FOR BHC

The weekend ahead is a big one for Banbridge Hockey Club.  The Men’s 1st XI took a huge step towards the Premier League title with a 4-1 win over Instonians at Havelock on Wednesday night.  Stevie Dowds got a hatrick and Dane Ward the other goal to take the win and maximum points as Bann move towards returning the Keightly Cup to the club for the first time in 24 years.  The team remain unbeaten in the league and only need a point from the game away against Lisnagarvey on Saturday to secure the title.  The game takes place at 2.30pm and all support is encouraged.

The Men’s 2s also have a big weekend coming up with their semi-final fixture against Cookstown 2s in the Irish Junior Cup.  The men’s 2s narrowly lost to the Co Tyrone side in the semis last season and therefore will be out to go one better on Sunday.  The game takes place at Coolnafranky at 3.00pm and again members and friends are encouraged to go and support the team.

The Ladies 2’s are still on course for promotion for the second successive season, however need to get maximum points out of their next few games.  They still have some tough fixtures ahead starting with Harlequins 4s this Saturday but will be determined to follow the success of the Ladies 1sts who have already secured promotion to Senior 1 following a win last weekend.

After securing the Senior 2 title, the Ladies 1s are in action in the Qualifying Plate on Saturday against Pegasus 2s/Ards 2s (still to be confirmed).

The Men’s 3s and 4s are also Cup action with the 3’s taking on Civil Service away in the McClements Cup and the 4s, who have already secured second place and promotion in the league, will take on Cookstown 4s at Havelock in the Junior Shield.
