Bann teams back in action this weekend

Banbridge Hockey Club will start 2013 with all eight senior teams in action this weekend.  The Ladies 3s will kick off the New Year’s hockey on Friday night (4th January) against Ards 4s at Havelock and will hope to return to form after a heavy defeat to league leaders Queens before the Christmas break.  The rest of the club teams will line out on Saturday.

On Saturday, the Men’s 1st XI travel to Antrim who are currently struggling in the Premier League.  After previously defeating this team 9-1 at Havelock in December, Bann will be hoping to take maximum points to retain their position at the top of the League table.  The Men’s 2s will also hope to maintain their 7 point lead at the top of Junior 1 as they take on Civil Service at Havelock.  The Men’s 3s and 4’s play Antrim 2s and Campbellians 2s respectively.  The Men’s 4s start 2013 in second place in Junior 3 but have North Down and Annadale hot on their heals.

The Ladies 1s travel the short distance up the A1 to play local rivals and league leaders Dromore at Ferris Park.  With Bann sitting in second place and just 4 points behind Dromore in the league table, this will be an important match for the local girls.  The Ladies 2s will want to return to winning ways after a couple of disappointing results before Christmas when they take on North Down 2s at Havelock while the Ladies 4s play Bangor 2s at the Academy.
