Ladies season starts this weekend
The ladies teams at Banbridge all begin their season this Saturday. After unparallelled successes last season, all three of the teams start this season in higher leagues than last, but will hope to emulate at least some of the success which they enjoyed.
The firsts kick off their campaign in Senior League 2 with a home fixture against Dungannon at 14:30 at Havelock. They have lost a few of the very successful double-winning team from last year, but have a number of ready made replacements stepping through from the youth set-up. A lot will still be expected from the experienced Diane McMillan at the back, whilst the success of the team could well depend on the form of top striker Anna Moore. Simon Jess again takes charge of the team and will be hoping that momentum gained in the last few seasons will see his team successful once again.
Robin Madeley’s second team also start the season one rung higher up the ladder in Junior League 3 after losing only two league games last season and narrowly missing out on a league title. He will be hoping for more of the same this year from a team that superbly combines a mixture of youth and experience. They start this Saturday with a trip to Belfast to play Grosvenor 2’s at CIYMS.
The thirds, again coached by the mecurial Dane Ward, also start life in Junior League 7 with an away match against Grosvenor 4’s. They will again depend largely on a panel of promising youngsters as they attempt to win promotion for the third year in a row.
