Seconds overpower a dejected Thirds in Junior League One clash at Havelock

Banbridge Seconds continued their good start to the season with a 5-1 win against Paul Downeys third eleven. The match was not a classic with the Seconds controlling the match and they took an early lead thanks to a good finish from McAnulty. A second was added shortly afterwards when Junior Burns was able to pick out McAnulty who was free in the circle with a perfect pass and he was able to finish into the bottom corner. After some great work by Woods down the right he was able to find a way into the circle and was able to apply a finish to add a third goal and the Seconds were 3-0 up by half time.

The second half continued with the Seconds putting the Thirds defence under great pressure, however the thirds defence was able to cope. However after great work by Jess and Mcmullan in the centre of midfield a fourth goal was added as after some neat passing, Woods was picked out in the circle and added a neat finish. As the half continued, Bennington and Dickson applied the pressure down the right hand side, while Bingham and Sturgeon continued to push down the left hand side. The fifth and final goal was added by Junior Burns, as he added the finishing touch at the back post after a deflected pass from Woods. Doug and Junior continued to defend well to the end of the game however the thirds were able to grab a consolation goal from a short corner. The Seconds will hope to continue their run of good form next week. Meanwhile the thirds will have to regroup again and look to get some points on the board before christmas to give themselves a fightng chance of survival in Junior League One.
