Double Header for Club at Havelock Park this Saturday

Banbridge entertain Dublin giants Monkstown in the Irish Hockey league (hit off 5pm) this Saturday, preceded by Bann Seconds against Annadale in Junior League One (hit off 2.30pm). It promises to be an action packed afternoon with Bann hoping to secure their second IHL win in a week and Beacons army hoping to make it four wins out of four in the league.

Bann go into the game without the services of Dermy Reay, Josh Moffett and Scott Forbes (all injured) but will be hoping to maintain their fine form to dispose of Monkstown. The dubliners however are no pushovers and in Gareth Watkins they have a player who could kill off any team in the IHL. They have beaten Instonians 4-0 and last week drew away to Cookstown. See below for IHU preview of this weekends action.

Firstly in Pool A Monkstown are enjoying holding top of the table on six points and will travel to take on Banbridge at Havelock Park and only 2 points separate these teams and it is sure to be a tight encounter. Next up having taken three points last weekend against Glenanne, Instonians will be very confident of securing another victory but Harlequins on the other hand were defeated by four goals to nil against rivals Banbridge and they will be keen to turn this scoreline around. Harlequins have been plagued by injuries so far this season and at the moment are awaiting the availability of Philip McLaughlin and Dan Hobbs. With a limited amount of back up, every player is so important to compete at this level this is a must win for Quins if they wish to remain in contention to be anywhere near qualifying for final stages. Glenanne and Cookstown make up the final match in this pool Glenanne will be licking their wounds after their 3-2 defeat to Instonians last Saturday but Cookstown will be a tough opponent who have so far enjoyed a draw and a win in this competition.
