Busy hockey season continues this week in Banbridge

It is practically picking up where they left off for Banbridge as they return to IHL action after their European adventure in Belgium last weekend. Bann host Munster giants Cork Harlequins (hit off 1pm) at Havelock Park in a bid to get their season back on track after an opening defeat away to Cookstown.

However, they will have to do it the hard way as four of their squad are currently in Cork with the Academy 1st XI in their bid to lift the Tasmanian Shield for only the fourth time in the schools history. Fingers crossed for a successful week for Steven Dawson’s school side. The side will be littered with 1st and 2nd XI players, with the seconds facing a tricky trip to Stormont to play NICS in Junior League One.

Elsewhere Paul Downeys thirds will be hoping to take maximum points against Raphoe at Havelock Park in a bid to leap out of the Junior League One releagtion zone. Banns EHL supporters chairman Matthew Clarke  will also be looking to pick up some points as they to travel to NICS.

Everyone at BHC wishes Banbridge Academy good luck this week in Cork. Bring it home lads!!!
