European Tournament schedule is unveiled
Banbridge will have the honour of opening stage 1.2 of the European Hockey league when the round gets underway on Friday October 21st.
The local lads will start off at 9:30am agisnt their French opponents CA Montrouge and will be followed ny Cookstowns a game against Reading.
At 2:30pm it’s HC Rotterdam v Swiss outfit HC Rotweiss Wettingen from Group E while the final game of the day sees RC Bruxelles take on Club an der Alster.
Bann have no game of the Saturday but they will hope for no upsets as Group F Favourites Hamburg take on the French side.
Cookstown will play their final game at 12:00pm against Amsterdam, while at 2:30pm host club KHC Dragons, for whom Eugene Magee is a Key player, take on HC Rotweiss Wettingen.
The day final could be a cracker with Germans Club an der Alster against Spanish giants Club de Campo Madrid.
If Banbridge have won their first game against Montrouge and, as expected, the French side lose to Hamburg on the Saturday, then Sundays game against the Germans (9:30am) will be no more than an exercise in experience for the locals.
Anything less than a win aginst the French on the opening day though, and the final fixture takes on a whole new meaning.
The other games on the day see Amsterdam play Reading at 12:30pm, KHC Dragons v HC Rotterdam at 2:30pm and 5pm Club De Campo Madrid play RC Bruxelles in the final game in group D.
